El Campo at
Rosenberg Foster

Notes: El Campo
(4-1) travels to Rosenberg's Traylor Stadium to play Foster (4-2) in the
district opener for both teams. El Campo and Foster meet for the eighth
consecutive year and El Campo owns a 4-3 edge during that span. El Campo has
won four straight since a season-opening loss to Brazoswood.
Foster has scored a total of 140 points in its four wins, including a 31-13
victory over Kennedale last week, and a total of seven points in its two
losses. El Campo is coming off a bye week and has yielded a total of 51 points
in its four wins. El Campo's Landon Appling has rushed for 511 yards and 10
touchdowns and has 17 catches for 159 yards and one touchdown.

Stadium to play Ray (3-3, 2-0) in a battle for the outright district lead.
Calhoun has defeated Rockport-Fulton and Corpus Christi Moody, and Ray has
beaten Beeville and Corpus Christi Miller. Calhoun will rely on its
option-attack led by quarterback Brandon Sanders, who has rushed for 567 yards
and 11 touchdowns, and running back Michael Mullins, who has rushed for 437
yards and four touchdowns. Ray quarterback Rey Rodriguez passed for 435 yards
and three touchdowns against Miller to bring his season totals to 1,084 yards
and 11 touchdowns.

Wharton at
Brookshire Royal

Notes: Wharton
(0-4) travels to Pattison to play Royal (1-4) in the district opener for both
teams hoping for a repeat of last season. Wharton was 0-5 in non-district play,
but went 3-2 in district action to clinch a playoff berth. Wharton's four
losses have come to teams with a combined record of 17-3. Wharton is attempting
to snap a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season. Royal has lost
four straight since opening the season with a one-point win over Hempstead.
Wharton's Deshavian Williams rushed for 127 yards and
one touchdown in last week's loss to Bellville.
DISTRICT 28-3A
Cuero at Yoakum
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Last year's score:
Cuero, 49-14.
Notes: Cuero (5-0)
goes for its eighth consecutive win over Yoakum (2-3) when the DeWitt County
rivals meet for the 99th time. The series began in 1911 with a 7-6 Yoakum win.
Cuero leads the series 64-28-6. Yoakum last defeated Cuero 10-3 in 2001. The
longest winning streak in the series was 10 straight by Cuero from 1979 to
1988. Cuero is ranked No. 6 in the state Class 3A poll and has gone 28-0 in
district games under coach Mark Reeve.

Gonzales at Edna

Notes: Gonzales
(1-4) appeared to win its seventh straight game over Edna (3-1) last season,
but the Apaches had to forfeit the contest for using an ineligible player.
Gonzales is coming off its bye week after picking up its first win against Kyle
Lehman. Edna suffered its first loss last week against Refugio, which is ranked
No. 6 in Class 2A. Gonzales' Kieran Johnson has passed for 718 yards and six
touchdowns, and Ckody Burton has 28 receptions for
511 yards and four touchdowns. Edna's Kam Jones has
passed for 639 yards and four touchdowns, and Ervin Yates has rushed for 431 yards
and three touchdowns.

Notes: Goliad (0-5)
and Palacios (2-3) have played six times since 2000 and each team has won three
times. Goliad is attempting to snap a seven-game losing streak dating back to
last season. Palacios' last win over a Class 3A team came in the 2007 Division
II regional playoffs. Goliad's first four losses were by a combined 37 points.
Goliad's Tyler Althof has passed for 844 yards and
eight touchdowns, and Billy Sippel has 20 catches for
222 yards and one touchdown. Palacios will honor assistant coach Harry Treybig for his 50 years in the profession with a reception
beginning at 5 p.m. in the school cafeteria and a pregame presentation at Shark
Field at 7:05 p.m.

Weimar at
Hallettsville

Hallettsville, 41-20.
Notes: Weimar (6-0,
2-0) and Hallettsville (0-5, 0-1) play for the 57th time. Hallettsville leads
the series 32-23-1 and has won the last eight meetings. Weimar's last win over
Hallettsville was a 28-15 victory in 1988. Weimar is off to its best start
since 1974 and has never started a season with seven consecutive wins. Weimar
has taken district wins over Brazos Consolidated and East Bernard.
Hallettsville has not started a season 0-5 since 1992 and lost its district
opener to Rice Consolidated, ranked No. 9 in the Class 2A state poll. Weimar's Brixx Hawthorne has passed for 951 yards and 11 touchdowns
and rushed for 658 yards and six touchdowns. Hallettsville's Ryan Lenzy has rushed for 529 yards and five touchdowns.
East Bernard at
Schulenburg

Notes: Schulenburg
(3-3, 1-1) has lost six straight to East Bernard (2-4, 0-2) since taking a 38-0
win in 1995. East Bernard began district play last season with losses to Rice
Consolidated and Weimar before winning its final four games to clinch a playoff
berth. Schulenburg bounced back from a district-opening loss to Hempstead to
beat Brazos Consolidated last week. Schulenburg's Kyle Bludau has passed for
680 yards and six touchdowns, and Kacy Mayberry has
26 catches for 321 yards and three touchdowns. East Bernard's Donnell Schuler
has rushed for 541 yards and three touchdowns.
DISTRICT 28-2A
Karnes City at
Stockdale

Karnes City, 23-17.
Notes: Karnes City
(4-1) and Stockdale (3-2) play for the eighth straight year. Stockdale owns a
5-2 edge and three of those meetings have been district games. The teams have
played two common opponents. Karnes City defeated Jourdanton 34-7 and lost to
Falls City 25-6. Stockdale lost to Falls City 40-7 and beat Jourdanton 25-19 in
overtime. Karnes City and Stockdale are coming off their bye weeks. Karnes
City's Clayton Labus has passed for 425 yards and two
touchdowns. Karnes City's defense has allowed a total of 40 points in its four
wins.
Poth at Kenedy
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Last year's score: Poth, 34-0.
Notes: Poth (1-4) seeks its eighth-straight win over Kenedy (2-3). Kenedy last defeated
Poth 13-12 in 1996. Kenedy
is attempting to end a 17-game district losing streak. Kenedy's
last district win was a 20-13 victory over Yorktown in 2006. Kenedy has lost three straight since opening the season
with wins over Charlotte and Pettus. Poth lost four straight before defeating Odem. Both teams
had byes last week. Kenedy's Rhett Bell has passed
for 651 yards and six touchdowns, and Jake Havron has
26 catches for 316 yards and three touchdowns.

(1-4) and Navarro (4-1) play for the 12th time since 1996. Navarro holds a 6-5
edge during that span and has won the last four meetings. Nixon-Smiley last
defeated Navarro 28-6 in 2002. Nixon-Smiley defeated Woodsboro before having a
bye last week. Nixon-Smiley scored 20 points against Woodsboro, matching the
total it scored in its first four games. Navarro lost to Class 3A Somerset last
week.

Industrial at Tidehaven

Notes: Industrial
(4-1) travels to El Maton having won six of its last
seven games against Tidehaven (2-3). Industrial
bounced back from a loss to Refugio to beat Taft last week. Quarterback Austin
Smalley rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown against Taft. Tidehaven had a bye last week after losing to Class 3A Needville. Industrial is seeking to repeat as district
champion, while Tidehaven finished third last season.
Industrial's defense has surrendered a total of 40 points in its four wins. Tidehaven's Sean Dannels has
passed for 882 yards and four touchdowns, Marcus Lara has rushed for 547 yards
and nine touchdowns, and Ian Wade and Colt Clontz
have combined for 59 catches for 466 yards and three touchdowns.
Danbury at Boling
Time: 7:30 p.m.

Danbury, 28-13.
Notes: Danbury
(0-5) had lost six in a row to Boling (2-3), but has won its last two games
against Boling. Danbury has lost seven straight dating back to last season.
Boling has dropped two straight district openers since beating Danbury in 2006.
The teams had common opponents in Ganado and Louise. Boling defeated Ganado
27-21 and Louise 27-25. Danbury lost to Louise 13-0 and Ganado 21-14. Boling
has averaged over 27 points in its last four games.
Van Vleck at Hitchcock

Notes: Van Vleck (1-4) plays Hitchcock
(0-3) seeking to end a six-game district losing streak. Hitchcock has won
five straight over Van Vleck dating back to 1994. Van
Vleck opened the season with losses to four Class 3A
teams before rolling to a 49-0 win over Bloomington last week. Van Vleck's defense limited Bloomington to 40 total yards.
Hitchcock has had two weeks off since losing to Anahuac. Van Vleck last won its district opener in 2004.
DISTRICT 30-2A
Refugio at Banquete

Notes: Refugio
(5-0) and Banquete (4-1) meet for the 13th time.
Refugio holds a 12-1 edge in the series that includes a number of playoff
games. Refugio opens district trying to extend its regular-season winning
streak to 27 games. Refugio is ranked No. 6 in the state Class 2A poll and is
coming off a 23-18 win over Class 3A Edna. Banquete
had a bye last week after losing to Hebbronville. Refugio's Kyle Hendley has passed for 837 yards and three touchdowns, and Jourdan Ortiz has an area-leading 31 receptions for 569
yards and two touchdowns.
Bloomington at Odem
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Last year's score: Odem,
28-7.
Notes: Bloomington
(1-4) attempts to end its 32-game district losing streak when it opens district
play against Odem (2-3). Bloomington's last district win was a 26-0 decision
over Kenedy on Nov. 8, 2002. Bloomington has gone
1-32 in district play since the 2002 season. Bloomington ended a nine-game skid
with a win over Runge before losing to Van Vleck last week. Odem had a bye last week after losing to
George West and Poth. Bloomington's Ryan De Los
Santos has accounted for 665 yards of total offense and six touchdowns.
DISTRICT 27-1A
Shiner at Louise

Notes: Shiner (4-1)
has defeated Louise (1-4) seven straight times since the teams became district
opponents. Shiner has won four straight games against three Class 2A teams and
one Class 3A team since losing its season opener by one point in overtime to
Class 2A Schulenburg. Louise has lost four straight games since opening the
season with a win over Danbury. Louise's four losses have been by a combined 24
points. Shiner's veer offense is averaging over 34 points a game. Shiner's
Curtis Shields, Josh Greathouse and Drew Stafford
have combined to rush for 1,028 yards and 17 touchdowns.

and five touchdowns, rushed for a district-leading 823 yards and 11 touchdowns,
and has returned four kickoffs for 163 yards and one
touchdown. Ganado is coming off a bye week after defeating Danbury. Ganado's
Josh Labay, Kevin Smith and Donovan Foster have
combined to rush for 1,359 yards and 16 touchdowns.

(5-0) opens district against Pettus (2-3) after going
undefeated in non-district play for the first time since 2004. Yorktown's five
wins were by a combined 20 points. Pettus dropped a
26-12 decision to Bee County foe Skidmore-Tynan
before having a bye last week. The teams had common opponents in Three Rivers
and Kenedy. Yorktown beat Three Rivers 21-20 and Kenedy 24-18. Pettus lost to Kenedy 33-17 and Three Rivers 22-18. Yorktown's Erin Barefield has passed for 729 yards and eight touchdowns,
and Jayden Barefield has 23 receptions for 503 yards
and five touchdowns. Pettus' Andrew Parker has
accounted for 767 yards of total offense and nine touchdowns.
Woodsboro at Runge

2004. Runge did not play in a district in 2006 and
2007. Woodsboro's Ronnie Martinez has rushed for 458 yards and five touchdowns.

over Division II San Marcos Baptist last week. St. Paul has gone 3-1 against
TAPPS competition. Texas Christian defeated Watauga Harvest Christian 13-6 last
week. St. Paul is averaging over 36 points per game, but is giving up over 29
points per game. St. Paul's Adam Hollenbach has
rushed for 767 yards and 15 touchdowns, and Brandon Sciba
has rushed for 442 yards and two touchdowns.
Brazos Christian at
Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart is playing its first game against a TAPPS opponent coming off a

two wins and a total of 113 in its four losses. Brazos Christian had a bye last
week after defeating The Woodlands Christian 28-21. Sacred Heart's Trenton Pilat has rushed for an area-leading 864 yards and 13
touchdowns.

for the 12th consecutive season. Bay City has lost four straight games to Lamar
Consolidated after winning seven straight. Lamar Consolidated snapped a
three-game losing streak with a 28-14 win over Hays Consolidated before having
a bye last week. Bay City lost its first four games before defeating Sweeny
14-7 going into its bye week. Bay City is averaging 12 points a game to Lamar Consolidated's 24.8 points per game. Lamar Consolidated is
coached by former Stroman assistant Lydell Wilson.
