(5-1, 1-0) opened district play with a 42-9 win over Richmond Foster last week,
while Terry (4-1, 0-0) had a bye. El Campo and Terry have split their six games
since becoming district opponents and the margin of victory was more than seven
points only once. El Campo would take over sole possession of the district lead
with a win. El Campo's lone loss was to Brazoswood
and Terry lost to Katy Taylor. El Campo's Landon Appling and Devin Parks have
combined to rush for 1,283 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Notes: Foster (4-3,
0-1) had lost three straight against Bay City (1-5, 0-1) until last season. The
loss to Foster kept Bay City out of the playoffs. Bay City opened district last
week with a 26-6 loss to Lamar Consolidated. Foster lost to El Campo 42-9 in
its district opener. Bay City continued to struggle on offense againt Lamar Consolidated and has scored a total of 66
points this season, while punting 30 times. Foster has averaged 35 points per
game in its four wins and just over five points per game in its three losses.

Gregory-Portland

(5-2, 3-0) and Gregory-Portland (5-1, 2-0) square off with the outright
district lead at stake. Calhoun has won two of its last three games against
Gregory-Portland. Calhoun has taken district wins over Rockport-Fulton, Corpus
Christi Moody and Corpus Christi Ray. Gregory-Portland has defeated Beeville
and Corpus Christi Miller in district play. Calhoun has scored a total of 127
points in its three district wins and Gregory-Portland has surrendered a total
of 14 points in its two district wins. Calhoun has won 15 consecutive games at Sandcrab Stadium. Calhoun's Brandon Sanders and Michael
Mullins have combined to rush for 1,326 yards and 20 touchdowns.

saw its losing streak extended to eight games. Needville
opened district with a 33-7 win over Columbia. Needville's
lone loss was a 28-22 setback against La Grange. Wharton is averaging 12 points
per game and has not scored more than 18 points in any game. Needville has not scored less than 21 points in any game.

Yoakum Bulldogs at

Notes: Yoakum (2-4,
0-1) has won its last five games against Edna (4-1, 1-0). Edna last defeated
Yoakum 38-14 in 2002, but Yoakum avenged that loss with a 31-16 win in the
Division I bi-district playoffs. Edna opened district with a 47-7 win over
Gonzales. Yoakum dropped a 26-23 decision to Cuero in its district opener.
Edna's win over Gonzales was its first over a Class 3A team this season. Yoakum
has gone 1-4 against Class 3A competition this season. Yoakum's Trey Hights has rushed for 782 yards and 13 touchdowns. Edna's Kam Jones has passed for 719 yards and five touchdowns, and
Ervin Yates has rushed for 588 yards and seven touchdowns.

first place. Cuero opened district with a 26-23 win over Yoakum and moved from
No. 6 to No. 4 in the state poll. Palacios beat Goliad 7-0 for its first
shutout since 2007 and its first win over a Class 3A team this season. Cuero
has won 29 straight district games under coach Mark
Reeve and has won 31 consecutive home games. Cuero's Tyler Arndt has passed for
988 yards and 12 touchdowns, and Trent Jackson has rushed for 885 yards and 11
touchdowns.

defeated Goliad four straight times until last season. Goliad has lost eight
straight games dating back to last season. Gonzales has lost nine of its last
11 games. Goliad is yielding an average of 28.2 points per game and Gonzales is
surrendering an average of 38 points per game. Goliad's Tyler Althof has passed for 939 yards and eight touchdowns.
Gonzales' Ckody Burton has 31 receptions for 587
yards and five touchdowns.

outright district lead is at stake. Rice Consolidated, which is ranked No. 9 in
the state poll, holds a 19-11 edge in the series and has won the last six
meetings. Weimar last defeated Rice Consolidated 28-20 in 1996. Weimar is off
to the best start in school history. Rice Consolidated is coming off its bye
week. Weimar has taken district wins over Brazos Consolidated, East Bernard and
Hallettsville. Rice Consolidated's Myles Dumont has
passed for an area-leading 1,137 yards and nine touchdowns, and Mario Hull has
27 catches for 751 yards and seven touchdowns. Weimar's Brixx
Hawthorne has passed for 1,110 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 714 yards
and eight touchdowns, and Lynx Hawthorne has 29 receptions for 631 yards and
seven touchdowns.
Hallettsville
Brahmas at Schulenburg Shorthorns

Hallettsville (0-6, 0-2) and Schulenburg (4-3, 2-1) face off for the 44th time
since 1944. Schulenburg owns a 24-19 edge during that span, but Hallettsville
has won the last two meetings. Schulenburg has defeated Brazos Consolidated and
East Bernard since opening district with a loss to Hempstead. Hallettsville is
off to its worse start since 1949 when it finished
0-9. Hallettsville's Ryan Lenzy has rushed for 615
yards and five touchdowns. Schulenburg's Kyle Bludau
has passed for 767 yards and six touchdowns, and Kacy
Mayberry has 27 receptions for 345 yards and three touchdowns.

East Bernard's Donnell Schuler has rushed for 598 yards and three touchdowns.

County rivals Karnes City (5-1, 1-0) and Kenedy (2-4,
0-1) play for the 91st time since 1922. Karnes City holds a 48-38-4 edge in the
series and has won the last nine meetings. Karnes City opened district with a
win over Stockdale, while Kenedy lost to Poth. Kenedy has lost four
straight since opening the season with wins over Charlotte and Pettus. Karnes City's lone loss was to Falls City. Karnes
City's Clayton Labus has passed for 559 yards and
three touchdowns. Kenedy's Rhett Bell has passed for
716 yards and six touchdowns, and Jake Havron has 31
catches for 325 yards and three touchdowns.

eighth consecutive season. Van Vleck holds a 4-3 edge
during that span. Industrial opened district with a win over Tidehaven and Van Vleck dropped
its district opener to Hitchcock. Industrial has won six straight district
games and Van Vleck has lost seven consecutive
district games. Industrial yielded 42 points in its loss to Refugio and a total
of 46 points in its five wins. Van Vleck is surrendering
an average of 25.3 points per game.
Tidehaven Tigers at Boling Bulldogs

Last year's score: Tidehaven, 45-21.
Notes: Boling (3-3,
1-0) meets Tidehaven (2-4, 0-1) attempting to go 2-0
in district for the first time since 2006. Boling opened district with a 32-12
win over Danbury. Tidehaven lost its district opener
22-6 against Industrial. Tidehaven and Boling have
each played three games decided by seven points or less. Boling has gone 2-1 in
those games and Tidheaven has a 1-2 record. Tidehaven's Marcus Lara has rushed for 598 yards and six
touchdowns, and Colt Clontz and Ian Wade have
combined for 63 receptions for 509 yards and four touchdowns.

Odem Owls at
Refugio Bobcats

Notes: Odem (2-4,
1-0) and Refugio (6-0, 1-0) play for the 29th time. Refugio holds a 22-7 edge
in the series. Refugio is ranked No. 6 in the state poll. Refugio has won 27
consecutive regular-season games and 20 straight home games, including last week's
50-7 district opening win over Banquete. Odem opened
district with a 54-0 win over Bloomington. Refugio's Kyle Hendley
has passed for 994 yards and four touchdowns, and Jourdan
Ortiz has an area-leading 34 receptions for 622 yards and two touchdowns.
Taft Greyhounds at
Bloomington Bobcats

Notes: Taft (5-1,
1-0) bounced back from a loss to Industrial and opened district with a 48-0 win
over Skidmore-Tynan. Bloomington (1-5, 0-1) dropped a
54-0 decision to Odem and saw its district losing streak grow to 33 games.
Bloomington is trying to end a scoreless streak that has reached eight
quarters. Taft has reached the 40-point mark in four of its six games.
Bloomington's Ryan De Los Santos has accounted for 773 yards of total offense
and six touchdowns.
DISTRICT 27-1A
Ganado Indians at
Shiner Comanches

Notes: Shiner (5-1,
1-0) and Ganado (4-2, 1-0) battle for at least a share of the district lead.
Shiner overcame a 21-7 halftime deficit to win last year's game. Shiner has won
five straight since losing in overtime to Schulenburg in its district opener.
Ganado has won two straight since losing to Industrial. Ganado's Josh Labay has rushed for 926 yards and 10 touchdowns, and Kevin
Smith and Donovan Foster have combined to rush for 797 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Shiner's Curtis Shields, Josh Greathouse and Drew
Stafford have combined to rush for 1,090 yards and 17 touchdowns.

remaining in the fourth quarter. Louise has lost five straight since opening
the season with a win over Danbury, but the five losses have been by a combined
26 points. Burton has won five straight since a season-opening loss to Weimar.
Somerville Yeguas at Flatonia Bulldogs

(2-4, 0-1) meets Somerville (4-1, 0-1) attempting to snap a four-game losing
streak that includes last week's 14-12 district-opening setback against Burton.
Somerville was undefeated until being thumped 48-14 in its district opener
against Ganado. Flatonia scored a total of 50 points in its two wins and a
total of 51 in its four losses.

Yorktown Wildcats
at Falls City Beavers

(6-0, 1-0) has won five straight over Yorktown (6-0, 1-0) dating back to 1998.
Yorktown is off to its best start since 2004 and opened district with a 26-0
win over Pettus. It was Yorktown's biggest margin of
victory this season. Falls City opened district with a 46-0 win over Charlotte
and moved into the state poll at No. 10. Yorktown's Erin Barefield
has passed for 980 yards and 11 touchdowns, and Jayden Barefield
has 31 receptions for 646 yards and eight touchdowns. Falls City's Colin Dziuk and Will Kirchhoff have combined to rush for 1,197
yards and 19 touchdowns.
Pettus Eagles at Woodsboro Eagles

Notes: Pettus (2-4, 0-1) and Woodsboro (3-3, 1-0) play for the
eighth straight season. Pettus owns a 4-3 edge during
that span. Woodsboro snapped a two-game losing streak and opened district with
a 44-12 win over Runge. Pettus
was shut out for the first time since 2005 in a 26-0 district-opening loss to
Yorktown. Woodsboro's Ronnie Martinez has rushed for 608 yards and seven
touchdowns.
Charlotte Trojans
at Runge Yellowjackets

Notes: Charlotte
(1-4, 0-1) has defeated Runge (2-4, 0-1) seven
straight times. Runge last defeated Charlotte 21-12
in 1995. Runge dropped its district opener to
Woodsboro and is seeking its first district win since 2004. Teams had common
opponent in Leakey. Runge defeated Leakey 41-21 and
Charlotte beat Leakey 21-12. Runge's Ryan Perez has
passed for a district-leading 999 yards and 11 touchdowns.

0-0). St. Paul opened district with a 43-6 win over Waco Texas Christian. St.
Gerard is coming off its bye week and has lost 16 straight games dating back to
last season. St. Paul's Adam Hollenbach has rushed
for 922 yards and 16 touchdowns and has scored an area-leading 98 points, and
Brandon Sciba has rushed for 531 yards and five
touchdowns.
